ALASCA - FOCIS project update

by Helena Ott

Hi there ALASCA Community! I hope, everyone is well. We just had our *FOCIS update call*, and everything went great. Because the invitation was sent out on short notice (we wanted to offer this session before everyone’s summer vacations start at different times), many of you were unable to attend. That’s why *we’ve decided to offer this session a second time* - this time with a bit more notice - on *July 31, 2026, at 9:30 a.m*. As we compiled the information, we realized once again just how many different things we’ve already been able to implement within the FOCIS context, and we’d love to share that with our members and our community. *We’d be thrilled if you could all join us!* You can join via this link: https://bbb.cloudandheat.com/rooms/xzd-3ry-r2o-hdx/join Greetings and a great start to the eek everyone! ALASCA Summit 2026 - general information

by Helena Ott

Hi there ALASCA community I hope you're all doing well and had a wonderful weekend. Today, I'd like to share some updates regarding the ALASCA Summit and bring everyone up to speed. *_ALASCA Summit 2026_* * 3. and 4. November 2026 * Mighty Twice Hotel Dresden <https://www.twicehotels.de/dresden> *_Pre Evening Event_* * An informal and relaxed get-together for everyone arriving the day before * November 2, 2026, from 7:30 PM onwards * Augustiner an der Frauenkirche <https://augustiner-dresden.com/> *_Registration _* As every year, registration for the ALASCA Summit 2026 is completely free of charge. We're gradually moving into the detailed planning phase of the event (T-shirts, catering, etc.), so we would be very grateful if you could already register for the Summit if you know you'll be joining us again this year. This helps us plan a little better and gives us a good sense of how many guests to expect. You can complete your free registration here <https://alasca.cloud/alasca-summit-2026/alasca-summit-2026-tickets/>. *_Accomodation_* *An important note for everyone traveling from outside Dresden: *This year, our event venue is located in a hotel in *Dresden's Neustadt district,* where you're very welcome to book your accommodation if you'd like to stay on-site.*ALASCA has blocked all rooms *for the period from *November 2–4 *so that as many of our guests as possible can stay at the event location. As a result, you*won't *find these rooms available through the hotel's regular online booking system during that time. To book a room for the ALASCA Summit at the Mighty Twice Hotel, you can either contact the hotel*by phone with the booking keyword "ALASCA" or send an email to reservierung(a)dresden.twicehotels.de using the keyword "ALASCA".* You can find room rate information here <https://alasca.cloud/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/2026-alasca-summit-hotel-re…>. Please note that the room block is only guaranteed until *August 2nd. *After that date, any remaining rooms will be released for general sale. If you'd like to stay at the event venue, I'd therefore encourage you to make your reservation *sooner rather than later.* *_Program_* As every year, we're looking forward to putting together a diverse and high-quality program for our community. Our Call for Contributions is currently open, and we'd be delighted if you once again submitted talks, lightning talks, and workshops. The *Call for Contributions <https://alasca.cloud/alasca-summit-2026/alasca-summit-2026-programm/alasca-…>* will remain open until*July 31, 2026, *and we'll provide feedback to submitters regarding the acceptance of their proposals as quickly as possible. At the moment, we're planning to publish the ALASCA Summit 2026 program towards the *end of August or beginning of September.* We're already very much looking forward to another successful ALASCA Summit together with all of you and would like to thank you for your tremendous support and engagement. Greetings from Dresden, and wishing you a great start to the new week.
